Lady Jae: Forced Wide To Lose Momentum in a Good Run

Five year old mare for Librado Barocia was in for the 1st allowance condition in the finale on Saturday and deserved a much better fate than what was handed to her. Making her fifth start down the hill in a full field of 12 runners, and off at 14/1, she broke well from the 12 hole and then was taken back off the pace by Frey. She made a big move just before the dirt cross over, strictly on her own, and looked to be in prime position for a big stretch run. However, the leader under J.J., didn’t handle the dirt cross over, swerved out way to the right, and forced “Lady” to go 8 wide into the stretch. She straightened herself but lost all momentum and stopped running at the 1/8 pole. They disqualified the Baffert runner for her antics but that didn’t help Lady Jae, who was moved up from 9th to 8th. This mare is Grade 3 placed coming down the hill and she was well meant today. Look for Barocia to find a winning spot for her in the near future. Tab and follow.
