Tamara: Daughter Of Beholder Is A Runner Ready For the Stakes

Two year old filly for Richard Mandella made her debut on Saturday in a maiden special weight allowance at six and a half on the main. Off as the 2nd choice in the wagering at 3/1 off some brilliant works, she was unfortunate to draw the rail for her debut. She bobbled at the start and went to her knees, but showed her athleticism by quickly getting back into the race and was 4th by the half mile pole in this field of 10, just 3 lengths back of the leaders. Smith kept her on the fence until the ¼ pole, seized an opening at the top of the lane and stuck her head in front and battled the favorite down the lane, finally putting her away late and winning off by two. This daughter of three time champion Beholder is a runner and will be ready for stakes competition in the very near future. 57 year old Mike Smith gave her a strong ride in her debut.
