The road to Kentucky Derby 2024 continues at Aqueduct on Saturday, April 6, and I have included Wood Memorial 2024 picks below. The Grade 2 event for 3-year-olds has a $750,000 purse and the thirteen entrants will be journeying 1 1/8 miles on the main track. The Wood Memorial is the 10th race on April 6 and the top five finishers will earn Kentucky Derby points (100-50-25-15-10).

Wood Memorial 2024 Picks & Final Time Ratings

Resilience added lasix and graduated in a dirt route at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 1. He made his stakes debut in the Grade 2 Risen Star on Feb. 17, and he chased the pace from post 10 and weakened late to finish a respectable fourth. Bill Mott’s Into Mischief colt adds blinkers and sports two bullets for this engagement. He figures to save ground stalking the pace under John Velazquez.

Deterministic might be an underlay in this race. The morning line favorite rallied to win his extended sprint debut at Saratogas last summer. He returned in the Grade 3 Gotham on March 2, and he worked out a comfortable stalking trip and beat post time favorite Just a Touch by two lengths. This is a deeper cast and Christophe Clement’s colt must prove that he can handle two turns.

Tuscan Sky looks like the one to beat on paper. He cruised to an easy local debut sprint victory by 5 1/4 lengths on Jan. 13. He stretched out on the Risen Star undercard in an optional-claiming affair on Feb. 17, and he reeled in next-out stakes winner Nash. Todd Pletcher’s Vino Rosso colt should work out a decent tactical journey under Manny Franco.

Gettysburg Address is worth a look underneath at a price. He puts blinkers back on for his new trainer Dallas Stewart, and he was competitive in the Smarty Jones Stakes earlier this year. He tailed off after that and can make an impact in the lane if the pace is honest.

Uncle Heavy stalked wide and wore down fellow Wood Memorial entrant El Grande O in the Grade 3 Withers at 1 1/8 miles on Feb. 3. The fresh colt is stuck in the outside post and projects another wide stalking trip.

The Wood Memorial field also includes Lonesome Boy, Protective, Evening News, Merit, Elysian Meadows, Society Man, and Deposition.
