Elm Drive: Exploded When Asked And Opened Up 2 On Favorite

Four year old filly for Phil D’Amato tried the turf for the 1st time in her 10th career start and really took to the green. Off at 5/1 in a field of 8 older fillies and mares coming down the hill in the ungraded Mizdirection stakes, she broke on top under Vasquez, but then was quickly taken in hand to lay second under a snug hold. Considering they were running down hill, the fractions were pedestrian like in 22.88 and 45.37. When the jock asked her for run just after the dirt crossover, she exploded and quickly opened up two on the favorite. She won rather easily by two at the wire. She was already a two time graded stakes winner on the dirt, so the D’Amato barn has more options for this talented daughter of Mohaymen. Her next start will be her third off the layoff.
