Indian Peak: Run Down Late But Can Move Forward

Six year old gelding for Peter Miller, off since last July at Del Mar, tried the hill in the Sensational Stars stakes on Sunday for older Cal breds. Off at 8/1 in a field of just five, he was last coming down the hill, six back of the leaders. J.J. had a decision to make after the dirt cross over and he made the wrong one, as he dove to the inside, then got trapped at the 1/8 pole, checked with nowhere to go, and lost the race right then and there. He got out late and re-rallied and was beaten two noses at the wire. Had he gone outside at the top of the lane, he wins the race. He is best at two turns and Miller may bring him back in the Crystal Water stakes at a mile on May 28, a Cal bred event. He’ll be tough in there.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Indian Peak was cabable of.  We expected that if Indian Peak gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Indian Peak performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Indian Peak last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Indian Peak next start.  If Indian Peak appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Indian Peak will dominate the race.
