Johannes: Put Other Speed Away While Opening by 5 on The Field

Two year old colt for Tim Yakteen tried the turf for the first time in his 4th career start in a maiden special weight at ¾ on Saturday. Off at 7/2 from a morning line of 6/1 in an 11 horse field, he was bumped at the start but was quickly among the leaders under Rispoli. They sizzled early with a 1st quarter in 21.77 but Johannes was traveling easy on the rail. He put the other speed away at the ¼ pole and quickly opened up five on the field. He ran the final quarter in 23.36 and slammed the door on the rest of the field. He won by nine under a hand ride the final sixteenth. This colt is stakes material off this performance.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Johannes was cabable of.  We expected that if Johannes gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Johannes performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Johannes last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Johannes next start.  If Johannes appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Johannes will dominate the race.
