Mecklenburg (IRE): Front Runner With Bad Start Costing Him a Chance and Can Rebound

Six year old gelding for Jeff Mullins made the third start off an 11 month break in the finale on Sunday in a 2nd allowance condition at 9 furlongs on the turf. Off at 5/1 in a field of 8, he stumbled badly at the start under Ricky Gonzalez, was away dead last and spotted the field six lengths right off the bat. He rushed up from the outside to reach contention into the clubhouse turn, got up to second by the half mile pole, and hung in there until the 1/8 pole, and then had nothing left. He finished last beaten six at the wire. He is a front runner who was well meant today but the bad start cost him all chance. He can rebound at this level with a clean break
