San Anton (IRE): Huge Kick to Reach Contention Will Be Tough To Beat With This Type Next Out

Two year old colt for Phil D’Amato made his U.S. debut on Friday in a maiden special weight at a mile on the grass. Off at 5/2 in a field of 11, he raced unhurried down the back stretch and was about 8 lengths off the solo leader. Prat, who was 0/15 at this meet so far, kept him on the fence most of the way, found a seam at the top of the lane, and had a huge kick to reach contention. But the lonely leader had too much left in the tank and “Anton” couldn’t get by the final 1/16. He probably needed this race off a 3 month break and he’ll be tough to beat with this type next out
