San Simeon Stakes (G3) Recap (3-21-20) – Winner: Cistron ($10.80)

Cistron Horse Racing Handicapping Past Performances

Surrender Now hit the ground running but strong favorite Bound for Nowhere was hot on her heels. The latter started to inch clear in the lane but Cistron had his mind on running and surged late to get up by a head. Bound for Nowhere was a clear 2nd as the 1-2 choice, and my value top Murad Khan was up for the show. King of Speed was 4th, followed by Sparky Ville, Voodoo Song, and Surrender Now.

San Luis Rey Stakes (G3) Recap (3-21-20) – Winner: Ward ’n Jerry ($5.60)

Ward 'N Jerry Horse Racing Handicapping Past Performances

Go for a Ride and Ashleyluvssugar carved out the fractions in this graded turf marathon. Ward ’n Jerry always seemed comfortable stalking the pace, and he got the jump on the closers and scored by a length and a quarter. Nice ride by Flavien Prat. Camino Del Paraiso was second best and Oscar Dominguez was an okay 3rd as the chalk. He did have some traffic woes, and that probably cost him a shot at the place. Swamp Souffle was 4th, and French Getaway, Ashleyluvssugar, and Go for a Ride trailed.

March 21 Claims: Race 3 – Swing Thoughts ($20k, Steve Knapp).

Sensational Star Stakes Recap (3-22-20) – Winner: Lieutenant Dan ($8.60)

Lieutenant Dan Horse Racing Handicapping Past Performances

Stealthediamonds got to the front and tried to go all the way, but Lieutenant Dan stalked the pace and was always traveling smoothly. The latter struck the front late and scored by 3/4ths of a length. Stealthediamonds was clearly second best and my value top choice Brandothebartender was up for 3rd at 10-1. Just Grazed Me was 4th as the overbet favorite, and she was followed by Wound Tight, Grinning Tiger, Castle, Loud Mouth, Tigre Di Slugo, and The Hunted.

March 22 Claims: Race 1 – Donut Girl ($20k Matthew Chew). Race 9 – Gryffindor ($12.5k, Ryan Hanson).
