Red Carpet Handicap Recap (11-22-18) - Winner: India Mantuana

India Mantuana ($39.60) figured to get brave in this graded turf marathon if she scampered away early, and she was six lengths in front after a half-mile. She was eight lengths to the good after six furlongs, and she held on to win by a 1/2 length under Tyler Baze. Siberian Iris emerged from the pack to land the place, and there was a dead-heat for the show between Escape Clause and Vexatious. Pantsonfire, Lucy De, The Tulip, and So Hi Society trailed.

Grade 2 Hollywood Turf Cup Recap (11-23-18) - Winner: Chicago Style

This was an interesting race from a pace standpoint. It started out with Ashleyluvssugar controlling the tempo under Tyler Baze. Marckie’s Water was the first to attack, and Joe Talamo sensed slow fractions and made his move aboard Can’thelpbelieving. All of those runners faded in the lane, and Bigger Picture sat a nice trip behind them and was moving sweetly along the inside under Mike Smith. At the same time, Chicago Style and Drayden Van Dyke were rallying wide from the back of the pack, and they got up to prevail by a neck over Bigger Picture. Beach View was up for the show after encountering traffic woes in the stretch under Rafael Bejarano. Marckie’s Water did the best of the pace runners in 4th, and was followed by Ashlevluvssugar, Ya Gotta Wanna, and Can’thelpbelieving.

Grade 3 Jimmy Durante Recap (11-24-18) - Winner: Elsa

Courteous opened up early and made almost all of the running under Joe Talamo. The front runner held them all off except for Elsa. The latter shipped in from Laurel Park for trainer Mike Stidham, and she finished strongly to score by 2-1/4 lengths under Joe Bravo. Post time favorite Pivottina rallied to just miss the place in a solid effort. Velvet Queen was next, and was followed by Kookie Gal, Lakerball, Discreet Diva, Creative Instinct, Cedars of Lebanon, Monette, Italia (poor start), and Thriving.

Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap Recap (11-24-18) - Winner: Caribou Club

A ground saving trip from the inside post did wonders for Caribou Club, and he scooted clear from midpack to score by a length and a quarter. Kenjisstorm was pressured by Secretary At War from the outset, and the latter ran a big race to land the place from post 11. Race favorite Synchrony raced in traffic near the back of the pack and finished strongly for the show. He would have been closer at the finish with a different trip. Big Score was 4th, and was followed by Kenjisstorm, He Will, Ohio, Pincheck, Le Ken, Madame Stripes, Ann Arbor Eddie, and Holiday Stone.

Grade 3 Native Diver Recap (11-25-18) - Winner: Battle of Midway

Three late scratches knocked this down to a 3-horse affair, and it was a thrilling match race throughout. Battle of Midway grabbed the early lead and Dabster hounded him throughout. They were separated by a 1/2 length early and were heads and necks apart the rest of the way. At the wire, it was Battle of Midway by a neck, and Dabster was a country mile in front of distant trailer Isotherm.

Grade 3 Cecil B. DeMille Recap (11-25-18) - Winner: Flying Scotsman

The race figured to be taken by front runner Vantastic or stalker Flying Scotsman, and the latter was much the best this day. Vantastic secured the early lead under Mike Smith in his first two turn try, and his clear advantage shrunk to a 1/2 length after six panels. Flying Scotsman was always traveling smoothly under Flaven Prat and he scooted clear to win by 4-1/4 lengths as the even money favorite. Rijeka got past Vantastic in the late stages to land the place, and the top three were well clear of Takeo Squared and Sayin Grace.
