Fair Grounds Stakes Win Picks for Dec 22

Santa Super Saturday Stakes Value Win Contenders From Fair Grounds (12-22-18)

FG 3 (Bonapaw, 5.5T)

#6 Kitten’s Cat (5-1) is a consistent late running turf sprinter. He gets pace to chase but I am a bit concerned that he will run out of ground at this abbreviated distance. He exits a good 3rd in the Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship (190 RCL) and earned a strong 142 CPR that day.

FG 7 (Letellier Memorial, 6f)

#10 Unholy Alliance (9-2) won her fast track debut at Churchill Downs Sept. 16 (3 next out winners) and followed that up with a victory in the slop at that same venue Nov. 9 (Fastest in the Stretch - 24.7 seconds). Her Today's Racing Digest numbers dipped a bit second time out but the wet track may have had something to do with that. She gets pace to chase and can score again for the productive Shaun Bridgmohan and Brad Cox team.

FG 8 (Blushing K. D., 8.5T)

#6 Beau Recall (9-2) has been facing better graded turf route rivals in Southern California (190-195 RCL in 4 of last 6 starts) and she won the G2 Royal Heroine earlier this year. She is now trained by Brad Cox (29% turf route) and might run past them all.

FG 9 (Tenacious, 1 mile 70 yards)

#3 Nun the Less (10-1) has run on the main track five times with three wins and a pair of runner-up finishes and he earned competitive numbers at Churchill Downs Nov. 22 (102 FIRE, 143 CPR, 144 Final Rating). The sharp gelding should be finishing in a race with multiple early runners and his trainer has good stats with 30+ day layoff runners.

FG 10 (Buddy Diliberto Memorial, 8.5T)

#8 Team Colors (8-1) got no pace help on yielding ground in the G3 River City Handicap Nov. 17. He ran well in his last three starts on firm turf and should get honest fractions to chase this time. He earned a competitive 155 CPR + 143 Final Rating in his first start after the Joe Sharp claim Oct. 12.

FG 11 (Sugar Bowl, 6f)

#4 Cajun Firecracker (9-2) landed the place as the beaten favorite in the Clever Trevor at seven panels Nov. 2 (competitive 150 RCL + 135 CPR) and his winning stablemate Long Range Toddy returned to take the Remington Springboard Mile Dec. 16. He projects a nice stalking trip and this shorter trip helps his cause.
