Grade 3 Autumn Miss Recap (10-27-18) - Winner: Toinette

Toinette offered a bit more value than expected, and she scooted clear from off the pace to score by a comfortable 2-1/4 lengths under Flavien Prat. She beat Rushing Fall earlier this year, and this was a strong comeback win for the Neil Drysdale trainee. Ms Bad Behavior set a strong pace and held the place over Streak of Luck. K P Pergolicious rallied from 12th to grab 4th, but was not close to the top three. The big disappointment in here was my value top pick Tesora. She broke 14th, did not take the first turn well, and steadied into the far turn while saving ground. She ended up 12th and is much better than that. This was my TRD video race of the week, and I gave out the exacta and trifecta.

Comma to the Top Stakes Recap (10-28-18) - Winner: Battle of Midway

It was nice to see my 2017 BC Dirt Mile top Battle of Midway score in this $75k affair at a flat mile. He fell into a nice outside tracking trip behind eventual place/show finishers All Out Blitz and St. Joe Bay. He was classier than those runners and kicked well clear to win by 4+ lengths under Flavien Prat. Look for him to get back into the graded ranks in the near future. I thought 40-1 longshot Very Very Stella had a shot to pass tired runners and land the show. She did get past a couple of runners, and was grinding away in the lane, but missed the show by a length and a half. Second choice Tatters to Riches was the big disappointment. He never really fired in a 5th place finish. He has foot problems, and that might be the excuse today. Roman Rosso was the distant trailer.
