Chick’s Dig It: Good Performance In Much Needed Race

Three year old gelding for Jerry Wallace, away from the races since early November, made start #3 on Saturday in a starter allowance non winners twice at ¾ on the main on a track rated as good. Off as the longest price in the race at 11/1, he broke OK under Bravo and sat third down the back side. Under some hard urging he made a strong move at the ¼ pole, stuck his nose in front at the top of the lane, but then was outgamed in the final furlong to lose by a neck at the wire. In a race he probably needed, it was a good performance, even though he went to the post very washy. He took the blinkers off today and he’s good enough to win this condition for a barn that runs very much under the radar.
