El Oro (FR): Strong Gallop Out Could Be Competitive Stretching Out

Three year old gelding, who was invading from Florida for Librado Barocia, surfaced in the 6th on Saturday on the turf at six and a half from the chute for a maiden claiming tag of $50K. Off at 5/1 in a field of 11, he actually had a pretty rough trip for a horse that won this race, as twice he had to check early before the dirt crossover. However, Vasquez did an excellent job of getting him over to the fence to save some ground, then found a seam at the top of the lane and drove him up the rail to get the victory by a length at the wire. He had a very strong gallop out which means he should have no trouble stretching out to two turns. He was in straight maiden races at Gulfstream and now is eligible for the starter races, non winners twice, and he should be very competitive with those horses.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe El Oro (FR) was cabable of.  We expected that if El Oro (FR) gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in El Oro (FR) performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in El Oro (FR) last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of El Oro (FR) next start.  If El Oro (FR) appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that El Oro (FR) will dominate the race.
