Russian to Win: Wide Throughout the Mud and Can Improve With a Better Trip

Was wide throughout in this muddy affair and he could’ve been closer at the finish with a better trip. He made a nice move around the turn and kept trying in the stretch, but he understandably flattened out inside the 16th pole and finished 4th. Also note that when Katie Davis rides, he has finished 4th or 5th in his last three starts when she is aboard and he won the other two times with another rider at the meet. With a better trip and a rider switch, the gelding can move forward next time out.
